Another episode, another extortion attempt by The Monster with 21 Faces. It’s at this point (and possibly way earlier) that you start thinking it’s more than money The Monster enjoys. Fame and the power of sending the authorities on wild goose chases are also in play. The scavenger hunt-like nature of these money drops are almost comical. I can almost hear The Monster’s maniacal laughter as the events unfold.
This installment also comes with an interesting revelation about Morinaga’s past which brings their own ethics into question. Stories, whether fiction or nonfiction, usually become more intriguing when the player’s morals shift while not staying static. Up until now Morinaga has been painted in a bright light but a dark shadow still remains. The last two episodes will be very interesting as we get closer to the finale of the podcast.
